Sick of school

Next week is my last week of classes. Thank God. Teaching is going ok. I am sick of having two cooperating teachers, though. one is 27 and one is 64 so it is hard. I teach like the 27 year old, energetic and run around the room a lot and talk fast, and the 64 year old doesnt like that. so i will have to pretend to be lame and boring in her two classes for the rest of the year. suck ass. Friday a kid ran out of class, hid himself in the boy's bathroom, and wanted to kill himself. great. just great. I swear to you my class is not that boring. It's not great right now, cause we are writing state required essays, but really it is not killing-yourself-worthy. sheesh. ready to retire already. This is cementing my plan to NOT teach next year. I will either substitute and bartend, or be part-time, .2 or .4 or something (a full time teacher is--duh--1.0) and bartend. I need to do something where my brain does not need to work.

National History Day regional competition tomorrow. woohoo field trip, one less day of middle school classes YESSSSS. we are bringing our top 25 finishers from the school competition last month. Then if we have any finalists, we bring them to the state tournament, which is around here actually, but hey it would be another field trip. the main goal is get some kid to win state so we can "chaperone" him or her to the national tournament in D.C. THAT would be fun.

new cousin

this is like a week late, but I have a new cousin. Sara and Derek just had Gracie June. she's totally cute, I got pictures in my email. if you are lucky i will try to put one here. tonight I watched pool. woohoo. Middle school is going alright, I am teaching three periods a day so far, all by myself now. they listen pretty well except for a few smartasses. actually those kids listen too but they make it more frustrating. grrr. our 5th hour skits today went well and 6th hour's were TERRIBLE. they all failed except for one group. sheesh. frustrating. well i gotta go to bed but i will write more tomorrow!

Happy March

How pathetic i have not written in almost 3 weeks. I got reprimanded by my 4-days-overdue prego cousin for not updating, so here it is. I started last monday in my part-time teaching. So I am actually for real standing in front of 25 8th graders for 3 periods a day teaching them. hopefully they are learning. I have one language arts class in which we are reading The Pearl by John Steinbeck. A little depressing to teach, since the baby gets its head blown off by a rifle at the end of the story. There's a cheerful moral story for you. DOn't find a huge pearl and become obsessed with being rich or your baby will get its heada shot off. In Social Studies we are doing the constitution. This is boring even for the teachers so that sucks too. I was asked today why the hell they needed to know this stuff, would they ever use it in life. They said have I ever had a job where I needed to know this crap. I said, well yes, here, so I can teach it to you, haha. They said "any other job besides teaching?" and I couldn't think of anything so I told them "yes, every job application I have ever had asked me what Article 4, section 3 says in the constitution and if I hadn't asnwered right I would not have been hired". haha. corrupting young minds already. I was gonna go see kalen and zac this weekend but they both have tests this week and said antoher weekend would be better. That's about all around here. It snowed last night and the night before and was a blizzard this morning! unfortunately it was only in the south where I live and not in Renton (middle school) or Kirkland (college) so that sucks. nothing cancelled. bummer. ill write more later.
